This £1.6 million Community Support Fund (CSF) was developed with the help of disabled people. It was launched by the Minister for Disabled People in July 2012 and has closed to new applications.

The fund supports disabled ex-Remploy employees and their families in England, Scotland and Wales, for up to 18 months.

What does the CSF do?

The fund supports projects run by Disabled People’s User Led Organisations (DPULOs), voluntary organisations or charities. The projects offer personalised local support by providing:

  • support to move back into employment
  • opportunities to keep in touch with ex-work colleagues and take part in social activities in the local community

The fund also helps to strengthen local organisations that support disabled people.

CSF projects

The fund has supported more than 40 projects and most are still operating. By June 2014, CSF projects:

  • made 1125 places available for ex-employees with more than 800 places taken up
  • helped 285 ex-employees find work

Of ex-Remploy employees taking part in CSF projects, 34% have found employment. Project participants say their confidence levels have increased by 90% and their knowledge and skills by 122% (May 2014).
