The Office for Disability Issues leads in driving delivery of the government’s vision for disabled people.
We help remove barriers so that all disabled people are able to fulfil their potential and be fully participating members of society.
We work in all areas of government policy and with a wide range of stakeholders.
Fulfilling Potential: Building a deeper understanding of disability in the UK today
On 13 February 2013 the Government published ‘Fulfilling Potential: Building a deeper understanding of disability in the UK today.’ This document summarises the analytical evidence on disability. It looks at the number of disabled people in the UK as well as looking at the way disability develops over the life course and at the fluctuating nature of disability. It also looks at the lives of disabled people by looking at the trends in outcomes and the barriers to taking part in different areas of life.
Fulfilling Potential - Next Steps
On 17 September 2012 the Government published two documents which set out its approach to the commitment to enable disabled people to fulfil their potential and play a full role in society.
