Radio
Radio can be a useful part of your communications plan
Although radio is not accessible for people with hearing impairments, many people with visual impairments get their news from radio programmes. You could consider targeting the following station and programmes as part of your media strategy for particular campaigns:
'Insight Radio', the Royal National Institute of Blind People radio station, is an example of a station produced specifically for those with visual impairments.
‘See Hear', a BBC programme, is an alternative to radio for people with hearing impairments. It is presented in sign language with open subtitles.
‘You and Yours', a Radio Four programme, has a high proportion of stories targeted at disabled listeners.
What you can do
- Consider radio as part of your integrated communications plan.
